Winter Member Meeting all about Connections

Published on 1/14/2026

We heard you! At the fall member meeting we learned about non-violent communication. With a jam-packed agenda, we had hardly any time to break into groups for small group discussion.

For the winter member meeting, it will be all about small groups.  We will be getting reacquainted with old friends and making new connections.  This is the perfect opportunity for newer members to connect and for the most involved of us to share what we are doing in small circles.

The board also has a proposal that they would like your feedback on.  We are mulling changing our name to the League of Women Voters of Whatcom County and leaving out Bellingham.  We have gotten feedback that our name turns off some potential members and participants.  There would be much work involved in updating our website, by-laws, and materials.  There are some legal updates we would have to do as well.  Some things would have to be done immediately at the time of change and others could be phased in (our voter registration information might be out of date for 6 months to a year as we reprint with the new name).  It is difficult to quantify what the results would be.  What do you think?  Is it worth it?

If you cannot attend the meeting, please share your thoughts with a board member.

Registration is encouraged for planning purposes but not required.  For more information click here.
