An Amazing Gift

Village Books and Paper Dreams, the fine independent bookstore and gift shop, has made itself into a cultural center and an important contributor to the welfare of our community. The store regularly asks its customers to “round up” for a local not-for-profit organization, and we were honored when the owners chose The League as the object of their “rounding” during the fall of 2025, as well as, in January and February of 2026. To our amazement, more than 10,000 of their customers agreed to contribute on our behalf, for a total of $12,741.51.
We are grateful to those many book lovers for their willingness to help us. And we deeply appreciate the support of Village Book’s co-owners, Kelly Evert, Paul Hansen, and Sarah Hutton. They believe in our mission—to empower voters and defend democracy—and themselves provide space for presentations, discussions, and book groups that educate the community and model responsible discourse. The funds they have raised for us will let us engage in projects or activities that otherwise would be out of our reach. On your next visit to the store, please thank the employees who help you for their work on behalf of the League.
