Report on the Status of Healthcare Legislation Supported by the LWVWA

Becca J Verda | Published on 4/11/2026
This was a difficult year for the Legislature.  Given the predicted revenue shortfall, bills requiring additional spending were unlikely to pass.  In fact, legislators looked for ways to cut expenditures and raise additional revenue.  However, many of the healthcare bills supported by the League passed and are now law.

A list of the healthcare and behavioral health bills supported or opposed by the State League, their status at the end of the 2026 legislative session, and how our local legislators voted can be found on the LWVBWC website here.  Additional information about the bills can be accessed from the Legislature’s website by clicking on the bill number in the list.  More detailed information about the bills can be found in the LWVWA Legislative Newsletter Archives..

Rep. Timmons, Alicia Rule, and Sen. Shewmake represent LD 42.  Rep. Lekanoff, Rep. Ramel, and Sen. Lovett represent LD 40.  If you are unsure of your legislative district, you can find it here.  As you talk with your legislators and legislative candidates in the coming months, thank them if they voted for bills you supported and ask them about their positions on these and related healthcare issues.
