Since the tulips bloomed in March your climate team has been diligently working on an exciting program for September.
Co-sponsoring with the
Salish Current and the
Whatcom Museum, we will be presenting
Sharing Our Water: A Festival of Art, Voices and Community. The museum has graciously allotted its Free First Friday for us on September 4th. The program activities will be in both the Lightcatcher and Old City Hall buildings from noon until 8:30pm.
The first goal of the program is to remind a different audience than usual, about the role water has played and continues to play in our lives. Secondly, we will bring speakers from various agencies and non- profits to participate in panels that engage the audiences in the questions and possible avenues for cooperation to mitigate the effect of climate change on our fisheries, our farming community, our towns and infrastructure.
As water sources diminish, it becomes essential for us to focus on our shared environment; we must honor this valuable resource and work together to protect it for the future.
Included throughout the day, water will be the focus of an art market, poetry, storytelling, movies, dancers and environmental non-profits hosting informational and pro- active activities.
At 4pm, the first of three panel discussions will begin. All activities will be posted on the Museum’s screen in the lobby of the Lightcatcher and in the free program you will receive at the door.
