About this event

Generally our book group selects a book that will educate us about some current issue of concern to the League. In July we decided to have each member select a book for our discussion that has been challenged or banned .
At our discussion members will share thoughts about their selected book, why they think it has been banned, what they discovered from reading the book and whether they recommend that others read it.
The League has a long-standing principal in defense of individual liberties and in support of citizen participation and so it opposes book bans in libraries and other public institutions. Recently there has been a spike in the number of challenges to libraries to remove books that reflect poorly on our history or culture. Come to this discussion and learn more.
