Nearly 100 years ago, the League of Women Voters was founded with a mission to help 20 million American women carry out their new responsibilities as eligible voters. After all, the League was founded just months before the 19th Amendment was ratified. Men and women of every race, economic and religious background participated in the movement for women’s suffrage.

We have been a force for change and a force for human rights over the years and we are just getting started!

Today the League is advocating for voting rights in the US Congress and in Olympia, Washington. As we celebrate 100 years of women’s suffrage, we will continue to carry on the legacy of that achievement by making sure ALL eligible voters can exercise their rights and by championing the expansion of those rights.

Kudos to the many men and women who are still fighting for voting rights.
